The Composer/Arranger
Jason spent over seven years studying 16th century counterpoint, Baroque, Classical and 20th century composition. He spends a lot of his time writing or analyzing orchestral pieces. In fact, there isn't a moment you will find him without a score. Jason also apprenticed with notable arranger, David Campbell, learning secrets to creating great string arrangements. He has written a number of works in many of the different styles. He debuted his Film Scoring talents, with the entire score for THE LAST KENNEDY.
You can also find Jason's work as a string arranger and violinist on Richie Zito's CD Avalon.
The Musician
Since his young teenage years, Jason has been teaching himself how to play instruments, any instrument he could get his hands on. Currently, he plays well over 10 instruments including: piano, violin, flute, trumpet, viola, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, recorder, harmonica and other variations of these instruments. He continues to find more avenues of sound expression.
The Song Writer
Jason loves all styles and genre's of music and can write Progressive Rock, County, Folk, Jazz, Latin, Hip Hop, as well as Country. As a result, his song writing is whatever best fits the feel. One day he may write a county tune or ballad ("Still Kiss Goodnight"), and then later a funk song ("Traffic Cop Lady"). To quote Jason, "Why should I stick with just one particular style, there are so many great things about all music!", hence the variety of styles that are merged in just one of his songs!
Current hit record Wide Awake on iTunes which he is credited as the songwriter, keyboard and vocals, with his well known band CANON.
The Vocalist
In addition to his other talents, Jason also is an exceptional vocalist and has sung in major stage performances such as the Off-Broadway "Les Miserables" and as the lead singer of the band "Canon". He has done voice training with many top vocalists including Seth Riggs (other students include Prince, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, and Michael Jackson) and in his youth, Raven Kane.
The Engineer
Jason attended the Los Angeles Recording Workshop in the North Hollywood Arts District and graduated at the top of his class receiving perfect marks on the final exam. He engineers most of his own projects from start through to the mixing as well as doing engineering for others. To quote Jason, "I love the to have the knowledge of what all the buttons and knobs do to sound, how you can use auxiliary send, phase cancellations, panning, reverb, etc. . and get the sound that fits just right with the feeling that I am looking for", and he does just that!
